In fact, there are multiple aspects of collectivist cultures that are often misread by modern Western individualists (like me). Remember, the most important things in a culture usually go without being said. Since the Bible was written in a collectivist context by writers who were all collectivists, I am at risk of misreading Scripture with my individualist eyes.
